The Foliana is a piece of sculpture that happens to light a room. The metal body is formed into a maple branch with leaf shaped diffusers at the ends, so the silhouette holds its own against a blank wall during the day and does not read as a lamp waiting to be switched on. In a corner that needs something rather than just more light, it does both jobs at once.
Five lights are aimed upward through the leaves. That bounces the output off the ceiling instead of firing it at the room, which produces the soft, sourceless glow you normally only get from cove lighting. Nobody in the room ever looks straight at a bulb, and the branch casts leaf shaped shadows across the ceiling that change as you move around it.
Metal construction keeps it steady despite the spread. At 67 inches tall with a 23.5 inch reach, the branch leans out over a chair or console without tipping, and the finish wipes clean with a dry cloth. G9 bulbs are compact enough to disappear inside the leaves, so the lit form stays clean.
